'Florentine Lilies'

I was down at Birmingham Printmakers this weekend which was really good as I have not managed to do any printing recently. I have been printing a new card called 'Florentine Lilies' based on a drawing of some lilies in a painting. I was really pleased with how this turned out on Saturday as the first time that I exposed this screen a few weeks ago the lines were much too faint and therefore I could not use the screen to print. After redrawing the lilies and making the image darker I was then able to expose it properly as you see above and print the image.

This is a lovely design. WE recently ran a simple silkscreen workshop using paper stencils at our studio with Clare Satow as a guest tutor. I was amazed and inspired at the results from the students who attended. Your designs are in a similar simple vein. I haven't tried this media but I think I'll give it a go.

Hi Carol
Thank you for your nice comment about my design and for following my blog. I really like screenprinting using photo emulsion as my 'stencil' and trying out different designs. It is great to hear from a fellow printmaker.
