Textile printing

This week I received a little notebook that I bought from a lovely Japanese textile designer - Hitomi Kimura. Her shop can be found here and her blog is kalla Textile Design. I have followed her blog for a while now and love her textile designs and am amazed how Hitomi manages to print all these in her small apartment.
I am really enjoying my screen printing for textiles course that I have been taking and below is my first design based on pomegranates printed in three colours. The pink seems a little bit too bright, however, someone said it looked like a Mary Quant design which is a sort of compliment as we are supposed to be taking our inspiration from the 1950's /1960's!
I might try printing it in different colours and on a more natural colour background.

is this printed on fabric? ooh i love the color that came out from the overlapping of the orange-yellow and pomegranate pink! and the line drawing. wish i could see it better on the screen...

Hi Jacqui, wow your printing results are really impressive, makes me think I should really dust off my screen printing kit again! Thanks for your comment on my post about childhood memories, I never owned the Post Office set but my next door neighbour did and everytime i went round I always insisted we play with, funny because she'd had it for years and was totally bored of it but I loved it! I hope your daughter enjoys the book, I get a bit nervous recommending books because you can never judge someone else's tastes but let me know what she thinks, all the best
